PSI Underwater:
Post Scuba Investigation

PSI UNDERWATER, the show that goes beneath the surface of dive accidents. Breathless stories have resurfaced from their watery graves. With your host, Adam Kendrick, and co-host Debra A. Hill, MD we discover what led up to the final gasps of the divers who took their last plunge... and how a few miraculously survived against all odds.

PSI UNDERWATER is a 30-minute partially scripted, reality based, and weekly show. The name "PSI UNDERWATER" is a play on words related to "CSI", a popular weekly show that is based on crime scene investigation. like "CSI" the show will be investigative in nature, but into real scuba diving accidents. PSI meaning Post Scuba Investigation. The forensic nature of the show gives it wide appeal. That the investigation involves incidents underwater is even more unique.

The DIVE ALERT NETWORK based at Duke University has an extensive library of dive accident cases with all of the investigative information from medical, to equipment, to details of all people and events involved. Scuba accidents can range from:

  • seemingly unexplained drowning,
  • to contaminated air causing poisoning,
  • to equipment failure,
  • to diver error,
  • and out of air situations,
  • to getting lost in caves,
  • to deadly encounters with sea jellies,
  • bites from large fish and sharks,
  • to allergic reactions to stinging organisms,
  • to complications of underlying medical problems that occur while under water,
  • to narcosis or "rapture of the deep",
  • to decompression illness ranging from numbness to paralysis to coma and death,
  • and little mishaps that just add up to over-task loading and then serious mistakes.

Each episode would show a re-enactment of the scuba diving event. Interspersed into the story would be interviews of experts involved in the investigation, those who witnessed the accident, as well as family and friends that were impacted by the event. Scuba accidents can result in injury or death. Each accident has it's own quirks and nuances, with both positive and negative surprises and often unanswered questions. Our host, and Medical and Psychiatric Expert co-host, will present the scenario and attempt to solve some of the unanswered questions through on camera live review of the information available and additional interviews, while re-visiting he scene and diving where the accident took place. Like the old show, Sea Hunt, there will be a "moral to the story" in the end, ...what could have been done to avoid the problem, and what was avoidable...
